Nantes city has developed an international centre for high level scientific and technological development (the technopôle).

50,000 students in Nantes and Saint Nazaire and over 100,000 in the Pays de la Loire region University, Ecole Polytechnique (one of France’s foremost higher education centres), leading business schools and engineering colleges.

The National College of Veterinary Medicine, School of Architecture, Wood and Timber College, College of Design are valuable advantages for the future of these sectors in the region.

Seafood and fisheries in the Region

The close proximity of the wide Loire estuary (used by local fisheries) and many small bays dedicated

Nantes : a historic city

Nantes historic buildings reflect the city’s wealth and diversity over the last five centuries. The streets of Bouffay area (medieval city centre) leads to the castle of the Dukes of Brittany, and to the impressive gothic cathedral.






Stroll up the “Passage Pommeraye” with its typical statues devoted to arts, science and agriculture, giving a surrealist feeling to this place so close to the heart of Nantes.

LU (Lefèvre Utile) a modern style tower represents Nantes’ symbols of the industrial expansion throughout the 20th century.

June – July – August
30 international artists (Daniel Buren, Felice Varini, Julius Popp, Kinya Maruyama…) will exhibit their giant works all along the Loire estuary from Nantes to Saint-Nazaire. viewing by boat, on foot or by bicycle… A truly gigantic experience!
