Tour and Buffet at La Plessissière: ‘The story of wine’ (Monday 15th June 2009)
The evening will start with a vineyard tour though wine-growing country just 30 minutes from Nantes.
Then a visit to a wine cellar filled with its characteristic perfumes of wood and vinified grapes. Guides will give an introduction to the world of winemaking in the special atmosphere created by the lines of typical casks.
The evening will culminate with a buffet accompanied by white, red and rosé wines from the Loire region and still and sparkling mineral waters.

Dinner at Petit Plessis Manor House (Tuesday 16th June 2009)
This ‘Nantaise’ evening will be held in the grounds of Petit Plessis Manor, an authentic 19th century manor house. In a real picture postcard setting, the manor parkland leads down to the Loire riverside,
where you can dip your hands into the water.
The conviviality of the evening will be completed by the clear country air mingled with the odours of grilling brochettes.
There will be live music to accompany the meal plus a bonus surprise:

Gala dinner ‘Voyage to the land of Jules Verne’ at the Château de la Poterie
(Thursday 18th June 2009)


The prestigious gala diner.

The Château de la Poterie, located on the banks of the Erdre river at La Chapelle-Sur-Erdre, is Nantes’ venue for large receptions.
This is just the start of a voyage ‘Around the world…*’ on the theme of this evening: Jules Verne, the famous 19th century French author of Adventure and Science Fiction, who came from Nantes.


You will be received at the Chateau by Master of Ceremonies Calixte de Nigremont, who will give readings from the works of Jules Verne, in French and English.
Calixte will provide the entertainment during this gastronomic diner. Accompanied by his musicians, he will teach the most prestigious dances of the French kingdom with his irresistible humour and deliciously refined manners.

Beautiful Nantes

The best of Nantes: traditional, modern and artistic.
A discovery tour on foot and by tram of this fine city, to explore these three fascinating aspects of ‘Beautiful Nantes’.
You will be given a travel pass and a map of the city with your discovery trail.
This will lead you to a visit of the prestigious castle ‘Chateau des Ducs des Bretagne’; to discover the shops of old Nantes and taste a deliciously sweet local speciality; and finally, to ride on the Great Elephant of the Ile de Nantes and/or visit the machine gallery.

Medieval Guérande



Guérande is a granite jewel in the land of white salt.
The impressive preservation of its building and battlements makes it a favourite site for movie makers and for pleasant wandering.
The multitude of shops selling local food and craft products make this fortified village unique. The sea air, cries of the gulls and its natural charm will delight you. The nearby salt marshes of the Pays de Guerande create a landscape of flat horizons, dotted with white domes of salt.

The oyster and its secrets

This voyage into the world of oyster farming will start at Port du Bec, close to l’île de Noirmoutier, 1 hour’s journey from Nantes.
The first group* will taste oysters from the ‘claires’, the ponds where these molluscs spend the final stage of rearing, with a presentation by the president of ‘La Route de l’Huitre’. This association for the discovery of oysters and oyster farming in Vendée, gives consumers a view of the life of these shellfish and their culture. Oysters will be served with lemon and white wine.
The tour will continue to a nearby wind farm site where regional representatives of the project will give an introduction under the third of the wind turbines.
Lastly, the group will visit the Vendée Naissain oyster hatchery, with state of the art facilities for controlled oyster reproduction.

A second group will make the same visits in the reverse order*.

Historic visit to « Château des Ducs »

Once just a single tower, the château des Ducs castle in Nantes has not always looked as it does today. Each period of history has left its mark and each stone carries a memory of the castle’s past.
The castle museum offers a tour through this history, which can be followed by a stroll around the ramparts.

Cruise on the Erdre

The Erdre is ‘the most beautiful river in France’, according to King François the 1st.
Discover the riches of the Erdre ‘little river’ (erdam in celtic), on this unusual cruise.
The Nantes boat company proposes a commentated trip along the river, on which you will learn of the river’s history, its numerous chateaux, and its flora and fauna.
